Working as a community to stop the development of 900 homes and re-open the Gorstyhill golf course

About

Wychwood Community GroupWe are the Wychwood Community Group (formally Wychwood Village CW2 Community Group), created to take on a proposed development which will destroy the golf course surrounding our village and country park. The group formed when the proposal for housing was announcement on the 13th March 2013 and already has the backing of over 1,200 residents, locals and golf members.

Our aim is to have the decision to close the golf club overturned and re-opened, whilst ensuring that no proposal to develop on the land is approved by the council.

Residents opted to live in this unique semi-rural location surrounding by a golf course, on the understanding that no further development could be made; with a vast area of unspoilt countryside, amazing wildlife and a safe place for our families.

Haddon Property Developments Ltd (owned by Peter Hunt) want to build 900 new properties, retail units (shops and offices) primary school, sports ground and a public house on the entire Gorstyhill golf course and open countryside around Wychwood Village (planning reference 14/5671N, submitted 15/12/2014). The area is situated in South East Cheshire, this is not in line with the Cheshire East Local Plan and its surrounding areas and is unsympathetic to the existing developments at Wychwood Village and Wychwood Park.
