Chairman’s Statement – 15th June 2013

First of all – well done to all those who submitted objections in the hope of stopping Haddon Property Developments Ltd (owned by Peter Hunt) from being included in the local plan. We managed to achieve over 600 objections including those submitted in writing, making us the largest voice of objection versus any of the other 20 proposed sites being considered; as well as the previous consultation earlier in the year.

It will take some time before we will know the outcome of our objections and despite this, Haddon are still proceeding with their plans by submitting an application/request only last week to Cheshire East Council to carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). This assessment will form part of their full planning application, as well as reports they will carry out on the land itself, the highways and other planning considerations such as infrastructure.

We must not and cannot just sit back and wait for their planning application to be submitted and I know you all appreciate that when the time comes, it will take dedication, time and money to fight a full planning application.

Just under three weeks ago we raised £1,100 from a very successful family fun day which will all go towards the fighting fund. In addition to this we are looking to hold two more events, one being an adult only event, but have yet to decide on the theme and hope we can count on your support?

I would like to thank each and every person who gave up their time and donated raffle prizes, cakes, equipment etc; plus an extension of gratitude to all the local residents who came and supported the day – Thank you!

With Haddon applying to carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), they are sending a clear message to us all that they are still pursuing their intention to build on the golf course. We must not be left under any illusion that what we have just done (exceptional in itself) is enough, as they will still take this as far as they can, despite all our objections; because the owner, Peter Hunt, just does not care!

You will find over the next few weeks things will quieten down and you will see little or no visible activity taking place. But please be assured that both Haddon (the developer) and our committee will be still working in the background, one (developer) in the hope of getting planning approval and the other (us) fighting to stop them.

Both myself and Vice Chairman are planning to sit down with Haddon’s agent after they have agreed to meet with us, which will happen over the next few weeks. In addition to this, we are in regular contact with the council, which includes the submission of update requests and very specific questions on Cheshire East’s next steps and timeframes etc.

Once again, thank you all for your support in submitting your objections and supporting the family fun day.

We will notify you shortly of the next two events we are looking to hold, with the main purpose being to bolster our fighting fund, but secondary and equally as important to build a community spirit on both the Village, the Park and surrounding areas for the benefit of all.

Regards to you all,

Andy Bailey – Chairman Wychwood village CW2 Community Group
